Bad and Good

tags:

Unless you have been living on another planet for the last 25 years you have no doubt heard of and listened to U2, well at least you have heard the music, listening is another thing.

The other day I was driving my car and listening to my favorite band U2. More specifically I was blasting the song “Bad“. This song is on The Unforgettable Fire album, it came out in the 80’s while I was in high-school. Now, for the first time I really listened to the lyrics. Two parts in particular hit me.

“if I could throw this
Lifeless lifeline to the wind
Leave this heart of clay
See you walk, walk away
Into the night
And through the rain
Into the half-light
And through the flame”

It blew me away. You see I have been working on a web concept that hopes to provide millions of dollars in charitable contributions for the less fortunate, the elderly, mentally ill, the blind, the deaf, the sick and needy, and I’ve been kicking it around for 2 years! Recently one of my best friends Jeff Klemin, Ashley my sister and a special group of people have joined me to help me bring this idea to life. Now the service has become a reality with it soon being available to the public and this song hit me like a tone of bricks because it’s talking about the journey we at uPlej are now embarking.

Those involved in this new venture are “throwing a lifeless lifeline to the wind”. In my mind “lifeless” means we didn’t have any real meanings in our “dead” professional lives and we are throwing that away to build uPlej. We are all leaving our hearts of clay (change of heart) hoping to see those that cannot walk, and see them walk again.

We are overcoming daily challenges through the “rain” and a dimly lit path “And through the rain into the half-light” and we are walking through the flame right now!

I’m wide awake
I’m wide awake
Wide awake
I’m not sleeping
Oh, no, no, no

Pretty self-explanatory. All of those that are associated with the development of uPlej are wide awake (we know what’s at stake) and we’re not sleeping (physically, mentally and spiritually). We know what needs to be done and we are not going to stop until uPlej is complete. Oh, no, no, no means to me that when people try to get in our way and cause us to doubt ourselves we just say Oh, no, no, no.

U2 rules! uPlej is about to create some new rules. Especially in the way people are used to giving to charity. It’s all about to change for Good!

I’m very much wide awake! U will be too!
